Third Man Records Beats by Dre
‘Third Man Records is a record label that was founded by Jack White of The White Stripes. Some of the hit songs from The White Stripes include “Icky Thump”, “Seven Nation Army”, “We’re Going To Be Friends”, and many others. A limited edition Third Man Records Beats by Dre Solo 3 Wireless headphone is set to be released on Record Store Black Friday.
Third Man Records Beats Solo 3 Wireless
This limited edition headphone is a more classy, designer version of the earlier released Solo 3 Wireless. What you’ll be getting is a piece of artwork designed by a world-renowned musician and the classic hi-fidelity sound that Beats have become known for.
Black and Yellow Sleekness
They will be released in a beautiful black and yellow decked out trim design with the Third Man Records logo. Aside from the actual outside appearance, they come with:
- a reinforced braided headphone cable
- wireless capabilities
- a charger
- the classic nylon carrying case
New Longer Cable
For the first time ever you will also be able to use a 1/4″ stereo plug adapter for stereo turntable listening. The headphone cable included is also 10″ longer than the ones that you’ve seen with the Studio Wireless and Solo 3 Wireless versions.
A longer cable always comes in handy while allowing you more freedom of movement. On top of the extended cable, if you decide to equip the Bluetooth wireless and pair it with your device of choice, your freedom of movement becomes even less of an issue.
Your Chance to Stand Out
The limited edition re-vamp really stands out against it’s competitors visually. It’s beautifully-crafted workmanship speaks volumes for the attention to detail and special care that went into creating such a visually spectacular product.
On-Ear vs. Over-Ear
Since these are going to be released as a Solo 3 model they will be the on-ear style. On-ear headphones usually don’t sacrifice the sound reproduction but one problem you might run into is slight discomfort during long listening sessions.
This isn’t always the case, while listening with the V-Moda XS On-Ears the discomfort was little to none during extended sessions.
Stay Comfortable For Longer Listening
The Solo HD model I used to own also performs pretty well in that respect. It’s safe to place your bet on the Solo 3 Limited Editions as being comfortable along the same lines except EVEN BETTER since it’s a later model that’s been improved upon and carefully curated.
Another feature worth considering are the adjustable ear cups. This is a feature that often gets sadly overlooked. It’s nice to know that the team at Beats and Third Man have our best interest, at least comfort-wise, in mind.
Sound Quality
I hear a lot of general complaints from more snobby listeners about Beats sound quality every now and again. In some respects I do tend to lean towards other brands but it really all depends on your personal ear consumption.
Many people use terms like impedance and GHz to describe how a song that the artist or band spent hours of blood, sweat, and tears working on. This is where I drift away from the conversation most of the time. These terms do have real definitions but describing “Icky Thump” in terms of GHz doesn’t do the song it’s justice.
When you’re driving down the road blasting your favorite tune or sitting in solitude jamming out with your personal setup you’re hearing a collection of notes, melodies, vocals, pain, joy, instruments, and emotion… not GHz.
You can rest assured that this particular set will allow you to enjoy the above mentioned aspects of that new album you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to listen to. I think it’s also worth mentioning that this commercial was released months ago before we learned about the Third Man version. Salute to Beats for some subtle foreshadowing.
Bluetooth? Check.
As with most wireless headphone models you might not be able to crank the volume so loud that it makes your ears bleed but you will be able to listen wire-free, which is the point after all is it not?
Wrapping Up – Something to Look Forward To
All in all, you’ll be getting a nicely put together package if you decide to check these out on Record Store Black Friday. Third Man Records and Beats by Dre have given us something special to look forward to this holiday season.
I’m just imagining myself listening to The White Stripes’ Icky Thump album while wearing the Third Man Records Beats by Dre Solo 3 Wireless headphones and let me tell you… it’s an eargasmic thought.
As an avid supporter of independent businesses and independent record labels, it’s always nice to show support any way that you can. If you decide to take a closer look at these on the 24th, go ahead and visit Third Man Records here.
I appreciate you taking the time to read through this and I hope you’re looking forward to this limited release as much as I am!

Hi there,
sorry to say, but I might be one the more snobby listeners 😀 My professions is strongly related with audiotechnic and mixing.
But to be fair, I only had them on a few times and I don´t even know which model. But everytime, there was just way too much base for me, highly focused on that.
Anyway, thats a while ago and like you said, in the end it´s what you like and prefer. You hear your favourite song and not any frequencies 🙂
I must say, they look really nice! So why not?
Have a good one
Hey Manny,
I understand, I don’t work in that field so I could see how it would be beneficial for you to view it that way. Those of us that consume the music don’t have to think about all the technical aspects that go into making a song.Â
Also, they are pretty “beat” heavy, pun intended, which is part of the appeal for a lot of listeners, not ALL.Â
They DO look great for sure, thanks for stopping by and taking a look. 🙂
