A computer speaker is a device that connects to a computer and generates sound. The quality or clarity will depend on the speaker that you get. The signal used to produce the sound that comes from a computer is made by the computer’s sound card. A sound card is also referred to as an audio output device a soundboard or an audio card. TaoTronics Computer Speakers Wired Computer Sound Bar
This is a soundbar by a company called Taotronics. If you are looking at something very small for your computer setup because your computer monitor speakers are not loud enough. I decided to give these guys a try. I was pleasantly surprised. For the most part, the soundbar is fairly small. It is 16 inches long, two and a half inches wide and in the front. You have a silver metal-like structure covering the speakers and the back is covered by a very tough black plastic. It looks very well built in the back here you have a headphone jack, microphone jack and a DC end for power. As well as a headphone jack cable and a microphone jack cable connecting to either your computer or your television. I did, however, find out that the soundbar did not come with RCAs.
You would have to purchase those if you would like to connect this to your television. On the side, you have your volume rocker. I did not see a power button so I’m assuming this did
not come with one but at the price point, I can not complain. The paperwork and USB cable that came with the device are well packed. it’s normally a typical user guide that shows you how to connect it. The USB cable an extended warranty but for the price, I’m not really going too crazy. The USB cable does look fairly long so that might be somewhat of a plus. You don’t have to have it right up against you know the power source, as well as a television you know some TVs the inputs, are on one end.
You know that way the cable can reach here in a moment. It sounds amazing as well as on the full volume. Here’s a user guide, basically explain to you what ports are to be connected to the PC. It’s pretty straightforward. It’s colour-coded, so most computers come with already colour code inputs so you can just connect them. We’re gonna give it a try on my computer and did connect the soundbar to my computer. I had noticed that there’s a nice ambient blue
LED surrounding the volume knob which looks very aesthetically pleasing, especially when the lights off. I thought that was a very nice touch for this company to you know to get something makes it look a little fancy.
If it sounds good and it looks good it’s a no-brainer in my book. The Taotronics Mini soundbar sounds great and looks great. The LED on the side is a very nice accent. It is perfect for a kid’s bedroom or someone with a very small computer desk. I think you guys will definitely be pleasantly surprised for the price to performance ratio.
pros
- A multi-purpose soundbar.
- It is very easy to set up.
- It is a compact and portable design.
- There is a 3.5mm mic input.
- It produces great bass.
- There are good mids and highs.
cons
- There are occasional crackles and pops.
- The headphones output has a high pitch.
Creative Pebble 2.0 USB-Powered Desktop Speakers
These are 4.4 watts. The first thing you’ll notice on the box itself is the 45-degree elevated
white soundstage. Let’s get out of the back you can see the box with a better box. It looks like these seem to come in over a once or this of rose gold, black colour. This is what the box looks like so in the back of the box it says elevated white sound stage. It gives the audio a greater dimension and dual far-field drivers project audio further than most speakers and passive radiator. For entrance bass now I’m a huge bass fan so hopefully this will be something I like. That’s what it looks like alright so inside the box you get another box featuring the paperwork. This looks to be the safety instructions you also get the warranty
Card.
That’s it, so these are the speakers must admit they’re a lot bigger than I actually expected. You all right so this because is not conducted USB-powered. I’m going to do two tests now obviously you know better get the full impression of speakers because your speakers are different. At least you get an understanding of what they sound like. I’m going to start by telling them on your volume control the power. On this one speaker here there is a speaker so whenever when they show you for comparison. This is because on this monitor and moves that up a little bit. I’m just going to change the sound singing that craziness.
One of the key things that you are sure to appreciate is just how easy it is to control the volume. The design is extremely simple. It fits right onto your desktop without any issues. This fits right into any decor that you may have on your table. It delivers a modern look in a market that is generally packed with boring looking designs. You also have the option to go with a different colour to fit the environment that you are putting it into. For an added cost, you can also get an accompanying subwoofer. The drivers are calculated impeccably at 45° to guarantee that the sound contacts you and your sound sweet spot precisely. Edifier R980T 4" Active Bookshelf Speakers
The Edifier R9 ATT Home Audio speakers so these speakers are designed for desktops and small spaces but it still promises to pack a decent punch when it comes to volume and quality. Let’s have a look and see what we get in the box. You get the user manual that we probably won’t look at two connecting cables, one being the RCA connector cable and of course, the speaker connecting cable. I’ve got to point out that I really like how it’s clearly red and black. I know that sounds a bit geeky, but it really does make a difference because a lot of them are just see-through. It makes it a bit more difficult to connect.
The speakers and I’ve taken one of the front panels off just so you can have a nose about and see what we’re working with. Let’s take a look at the back of the right speaker. One thing I will point out straight away is just how tough it is to actually move the volume knob. It does sound strange but it’s really tough to move it and I can see positives and negatives towards
this. I can see it is really good if you want to be very precise when you’re adjusting the volume but at the same time if you just want to whack it up. It’s just a bit of a pain and of course, we’ve got that base knob as well and that’s not as tough as the volume one. It’s still pretty tough, so a bit of a basic setup on the back anyway guys are not far about for too
much longer.
Let’s get into the sound test. I can honestly say I was really impressed with that audio output. I thought it was so full sounding really nice quality. The bass seemed to really fill the room and give it so much depth. All the dynamic frequencies were all just in the right sweet spot. Solos mids and highs it was just a nice combination of all those frequencies. Bear in mind that I only had the volume of one-quarter of the way and the bass was straight up in the middle and it was seriously outputting some serious volume I can imagine using these with your desktop PC. Playing a game could be really immersive.
pros
- The sound quality is brilliant.
- They produce a good amount of bass.
- They provide great value for money.
- They are reasonably priced.
cons
- The midranges are not as audible as could be.
- Don’t like the placement of the volume controls.
Buyer's guide
Your computer comes with an inbuilt speaker. But this doesn’t always cut it when it comes to listening to anything for an extended period or if you want higher quality. There are a couple of things to consider when you are looking to buy new computer speakers. When computers first came on the scene, they had inbuilt speakers built onto the chassis that generated a series of different tones and beeps. It was built by IBM in 1981 and produced basic low-quality sound.
As the years went on, and technology advanced, the speakers were now built into the monitors. This then meant they had the ability to produce voices, music and other sound effects. These old monitors had the speakers located on the bottom left and bottom right corner mostly. Later on, gaming was to become more popular. More demands on the quality of sound were to be put on the computer. Manufacturers had to catch up and make the speakers bigger and better in quality. They also had to make sure that the computer speakers had improved bass. Manufacturers then began to produce speakers that had more to write home about. External speakers then became the order of the day. The first external computer speaker was invented in 1991 by Abinawan Puracchidas. These speakers still dominate the market today.
Are you looking for the best computer speakers for great sound in your new home studio?
Perhaps you are looking to strengthen your music production game,
Or you want to buy them to improve your gaming experience
It is easy to think that sound and the quality is irrelevant when all you do is work with text on your computer. But if you find yourself working on projects that need sound, then you will realize just how important it is to get true sound. A home studio is usually the best way for any type of audio producer to stay on their work. When setting up, you need to make sure that you have the perfect studio monitors/speakers so that you can monitor your sound. This is vital if you will be producing anything related to sound that will go out to clients or anyone for that matter. You want to make sure that the sound you are working on is the sound they will be receiving. A great set of computer speakers will do this for you.
You may not be a music producer, but you like to be engulfed by the music you are listening to. Computer speakers will help enhance whatever you are listening to and give you that experience. If you are gaming as well, crystal clear amplified sound will make your game that much sweeter. There are various types of computer speakers on the market today and they are made to enhance your listening experience.
Channels
Check to see what type of channels the speakers take. You must know the difference. A 2.0 system has two channels and no subwoofer. It has compact left and right speakers with the amplifier being housed in one of the speakers. A 2.1 system has two channels and a subwoofer. It typically uses even smaller left and right speakers called satellites. Thus way they get higher frequencies along with a larger speaker that sits under your desk and produces a lower frequency. On this system, the lower frequencies are handled by the subwoofer which allows the satellites to be even smaller. A 2.1 system is often called a subwoofer system.
The 2.0 system and the 2.1 system differ in size and bass performance. If desk space is what you are trying to save, then you want to get a 2.0 system. t is relatively smaller in comparison to the 2.1 system. The great thing about the 2.1 system is that it can reproduce lower frequencies. This is known as a bass extension. It gives a more powerful bass than the smaller drivers of a system without a subwoofer. The larger the woofer, the more powerful the bass would be.
Which speakers work best as studio monitors?
Studio monitors tend to be bulkier than the average computer speakers. This is because they need to produce a clear sound for the production of music. One of the variants of the 2.0 system is studio monitors. The larger size that computer speakers come in to let them host larger woofers that provide decent bass performance without the need for a subwoofer.
What specs and sound quality should I look out for?
Manufacturers can lead you astray. Look for recommendations from people and sources that you trust. There is no standard method when it comes to testing speakers. A good speaker system provides a good balance between the treble (upper), midrange, and bass (lower) frequencies, producing full, rich sound while preserving detail. In as much as it may not be difficult to find speakers to blare out sounds, it can be challenging to find a speaker that has good bass performance and remains unchanged regardless of the volume. Speakers that use small drivers can not reproduce the low notes. If deep, controlled bass is important to you, you’ll need speakers with relatively large woofers.
How do they look?
When it comes to electronics, does the look matter? The jury is still out on that one. However, we all like our desks and our offices a certain way. this includes what the speakers will look like when you whip them out. Just remember that you will be looking at these speakers more often than not when you are at your computer. They will not be a hidden device. This means you will need to be happy with what you are looking at. Also, make sure that you look for something timeless. You do not want to be stuck with a design that will look like a prop from back to the future.
How much should I be looking to spend?
Some say the more you pay for your speakers the more quality you will get. We ask the pertinent question, what do you prepare. At the end of the day, it is about personal preference. peakers are amongst the most heavily discounted of all computer accessories. If you give yourself the time to shop. You will find a bargain.
What type of input system do they have?
Take a minute to understand what input system the speakers come with. Some speakers allow you to listen to one thing at a time, however, depending on the input, you can listen to more.
Do they have their controls?
The most basic of systems do not have their controls. You have to connect your computer and then adjust the levels on your own. However, if the speakers you are considering buying have controls, then you have to make sure they are reachable, rather than controls on the back of the speaker which are hard to reach.
Final thoughts
The world we live in is defined by what our senses can take in and one of these ways is by listening to our world. There is nothing that compares to listening to your favourite song and feel every beat and the rhythm that goes with it. Internal computer speakers can put a damper on this experience. This is why it is important to know that if you want quality speakers, you have the option to buy external speakers. These have made all the difference for music buffs and producers of any kind of music and sounds. We have reviewed the top brands and we hope that this makes your speaker selection that much easier.
