Beats Solo 3 Wireless – Headphones Review
Welcome back for another headphone review at Sonic Elevation! Today we’ll be taking a close look at the Beats Solo3 On-Ear Wireless Headphones. My hope for you is that by the end of this product review, you’ll be able to make an informed decision about taking that next step.
Beats Solo3 Wireless Review – Who Are They For?
As you can see in the image above, the design of the Beats Solo 3 is truly a work of art. Beats is notoriously known for having beautiful aesthetic features and some pretty gigantic celebrity endorsements. Artists ranging from Justin Bieber to Lil Wayne have been seen wearing and using the headphones.
I’m sure you’ve heard of Conor McGregor, right? He uses Beats too. I could go on and on listing off the names of talented individuals endorsed by Beats but that would get pretty boring for both of us.
Are They Comfortable?
The Beats Solo HD on-ear headphones I owned in the past could be worn for hours on end with little to no discomfort. I’m sure these are no different, in fact, they’re rated as being extremely comfortable by many in the world of audio.
I find that usually, on-ear headphones aren’t the most comfortable, but when you do find a pair that is, it’s tough to voice any serious criticism. For example, the V-Moda XS on-ear ‘phones blew me away comfort-wise when I tested those out for comfort.
Sonic Performance – How Do They Sound?
Beats have built their reputation in a number of ways over the years. When it really comes down to it, would people spend their hard-earned money on something that didn’t perform as expected? NO.
While some will tell you that Beats don’t produce excellent sound quality, I tend to differ. Are there other, more expensive options that offer better sound quality? YES.
If you’re a casual fan of audio or just hearing your favorite media you will not be disappointed when you throw these on and press play. Whether it’s watching a movie, checking out that new album, streaming music, or listening to the latest podcast on YouTube, the Solo 3s will serve their purpose.
What is their purpose? To deliver quality audio from your device into your ear canal and through to your brain, allowing you to relive that experience again and again and again.
Whether or not you get what you pay for when purchasing a pair of Beats headphones is up to debate. The bottom line is that people who buy Beats want something wireless, sleek, and beautiful. Portability – Are They Easy To Travel With?
Are you someone who’s constantly busy, running around doing this or that? I know the feeling. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to have a nice pair of headphones ready to go at a moments notice? Something nicely folded in a compact shape that’s perfect for carrying?
The different sets of Beats Solo headphones are known for being compact, commuter-friendly, and easy to travel with overall and the Solo 3’s are no different. I’ve personally seen some people using Solo’s at the gym doing box jumps and it surprised me how they were able to stay on their head throughout all that intense movement.
That speaks to the level of detail that the manufactures have taken into account when creating this product. Would I personally go on a run while wearing the Solo 3?
Probably not for a few reasons:
One, I don’t go running anymore, although I really should.
Two, if I spend this amount of cash on anything, I treat it like I would anything else that I highly value and probably wouldn’t even want my own sweat to taint the perfection of a new pair of headphones.
The fact is that even though I wouldn’t, that doesn’t mean that you can’t or shouldn’t yourself. The reality is that it’s really up to you how you choose to utilize this technology.
How Do They Look?
We already briefly went over the design aspect at the beginning of this review but there’s a little more I’d like to touch upon.
The Beats logo alone turns heads, changes minds, and in some, inspires hatred. The latter is usually caused by a lack of funds coupled with envy. Logos have the power to inspire a lot of things and the makers of Beats Headphones clearly understand that concept.
Do you want to turn heads, inspire jealousy, and be seen wearing the exact pair of headphones that some of your favorite celebrities endorse?
No strings attached is usually a good thing, which takes us to the last feature that could make or break the deal for you.
Wireless Bluetooth Performance
The Solo 3 Wireless on-ears have been reviewed by a lot of the big names in this industry and across the board all I’ve seen so far are positive words regarding the wireless capabilities.
Much of technology is moving towards a completely wire-free existence so why not jump on board early? Whether you’re taking a call, doing box jumps at the gym, dishes in the kitchen, or riding the train somewhere, having the ability to transmit your favorite music, etc directly into your ears is a pretty cool feature.
Do You Hear That? It’s the Sound of The End

I have gone back and forth on whether or not I should just bite the bullet and spend they money on a pair of Beats. I have been searching for a quality wireless headphone for a while. I workout frequently, but my days of doing high intensity jumping all over the place, workouts are mostly over. But there is the sweat factor you mentioned. Are these headphones water or sweat resistant at all? I do see people at the gym with covers over the ear pads on their Beats. Maybe that would be my solution. Thanks for sharing, you may have just given me the little push I needed.
Hey Steve,
Technically, they’re not waterproof, no. Based on my research unless you’re producing gallons of sweat while you’re working out, you should be fine.
You could wipe them off after you’re done but I’ve used the Solo HDs for stuff like lawn mowing, etc before and didn’t have any problems with the headphones shorting out because of my sweat production.
I’m glad I could help, if you do decide to go with a pair of these, please use the links provided on this page. 🙂
Thanks for tuning in,

Hey Dom,
Very informative, every time I realize I need new headphones I always come to this issue. Buy something cheap or treat myself? I got to try these recently and while I like the sound I ran into the same issue you discussed about mobility and careful handling of them. I exercise a lot and I certainly wouldn’t want to be wearing these in the middle of a workout only to be worried about them not falling off. I guess I need a more sporty ones, will check your site for those, thanks for the information on these.
Hey Victor,
That’s always a good question. I guess it really comes down to what you’re looking for. Something that’ll last for a while or a pair that you might go through a little faster but is cheap enough to be worth it..?
You could take a look at my V-Moda XS review for a more sporty, super durable pair of on-ears that you could use for working out.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you find what you’re looking for. 🙂
